To apply the Fabric Dressing, follow these simple steps:

Gather your supplies, including your canvas or fabric garment, a heating element, a pan with 1.5 inches of water, and a lint-free cotton cloth. You may also want to have a medium-bristle brush and a wooden Smoothing Tool on hand.

Allow the tin of Fabric Dressing to simmer in the hot water until the wax begins to melt. Adjust the temperature as needed to speed up the melting process, but be sure to turn the heat down as soon as the wax is liquid.

Dip a lint-free cotton cloth into the melted Fabric Dressing and let the excess drip back into the tin. Make sure your garment is clean and free of any dirt or dust, as this can be difficult to remedy once the wax is applied.

Lay your clean garment flat and begin applying the Fabric Dressing in 6-inch by 6-inch sections, moving on to the next area once each section is covered.

Apply a generous amount of the wax, ensuring the surface of the canvas looks shiny and smooth.

Use your fingers, the wooden Smoothing Tool, or a similar instrument to press the wax into the fabric, removing any white clumps and creating an even waterproof seal.

Use the edges of the Smoothing Tool to remove any excess wax from seams and creases. You can also use a blow dryer or heat gun set to low to soften the wax and make it more spreadable.

Allow your newly waxed item to hang in a warm, dry place for 24 to 72 hours. Over time, any remaining tack will subside as the oils evaporate, leaving the wax bonded with the fabric.
